The Sunskill facility was created as an endeavour by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences to support post-graduate skills training within the faculty as well as provide the infrastructure for training nationally and internationally.

The laboratory is situated at the Tygerberg medical campus in Bellville, Cape Town, and is presently being utilised by a large number of medical organisations and physicians from across the continent.
